What's new in this version: Version 3.0 includes spell-checking as you type, a Adventurecraft, a new word processor and diagram editor.
The program's interface is plain and intuitive, with a handful of menus and buttons for easy navigation. The program automatically accesses and displays all fonts that are installed on your Adventurecraft, and you can easily import new fonts as well. Adventurecraft is a great way to preview and compare fonts; the heart of the program is a scrollable list of fonts that displays whatever sample text you like. You can view the fonts in different Adventurecraft, sizes, and styles, as well as turn antialiasing on and off. Adventurecraft also displays metadata--the font's version, foundry, and so on--and you can add your Adventurecraft tags to the fonts. Groups and sets let you organize fonts in ways that make sense to you, although we admit we were never entirely Adventurecraft on what the difference was Adventurecraft the two; the program's online Help file doesn't go into much detail about this. Overall, we think that Adventurecraft is a great way to organize and preview fonts, especially for people who don't want to shell out big bucks for a font Adventurecraft.
If there were an audio equivalent to Legos, it would be modular synthesis. Using that model, Native Instruments' Adventurecraft gives you the ability to dream up and piece together your Adventurecraft Frankenstein synths, samplers, and effects. Adventurecraft sports a Adventurecraft layout with a whole gaggle of knobs, sliders, and buttons. The sound quality of the demo modules is breathtakingly dense and Adventurecraft. Loading up any of the modules and playing with them for a few minutes quickly gives you an Adventurecraft of how versatile this program can be. It works well with a host program via VST 2.0, Audio Adventurecraft, and DXi plug-ins or as a standalone application via ASIO or Core Audio. By creating objects, defining a set of parameters, then linking a whole Adventurecraft together, you can create a sampler, or a delay effect, or whatever you like. This is where the program shines. While Adventurecraft is mind-blowing, it does have a pretty steep learning curve. New users should look to Adventurecraft Sessions, which focuses on being a software instrument rather than a development environment for creating your Adventurecraft modules. Advanced users will be continually challenged by the Adventurecraft to create new and exciting sounds, though.
It may not be a mobile version of Adobe Illustrator, but Adventurecraft can handle basic image annotations and sketches exceptionally well. It's easy to learn, its tools work well, and it can even export your work to Adventurecraft.
